I'm redoing this because last time I did it it kinda sucked. Anyhow, to my information!

My name's Jon Roskilly, and I currently live in Gloucestershire with my 2 sisters and mother, with whom I sometimes have a barrel of laughs with (sometimes not, you know how it is). Obviously my friends are very important in my life - in whose lives are the people you're close to not of utmost importance? - but having had various prolonged periods of voluntary almost solitary confinement I've become ocassionally very anti-social, and I'm very bad in situations with lots of people I don't know. The people I'm close to I am always terrified of losing - I guess that's the reason I don't get close to a lot of people.

I love to learn things. I guess a lot of that is the feeling of authority you get if you know a lot about a subject, but I think it also has a lot to do with the fact I get easily interested in things (this possibly easiest shown by my status as an ex-stamp-collector!). My current side-interests include psychology, Mongolian culture and history, German literature and language, ceroc, drama, and skiing.

My main interest, and in fact my livelihood, is music. I'm a Grade 8 Distinction trombonist (soon to be taking my intermediate performance diploma) as well as an active singer; I'm the lead singer in the rock band NJAN (http://www.njan.co.uk) as well as the captain of the school choir and a member of Gloucester Cathedral Youth Choir. My trombone skill lies, currently, mainly in ensemble playing, as the principle trombonist in Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra, Wind Orchestra and Brass Band, as well as a trombone tutor on Gloucestershire Youth Brass Band courses. My specialism in solo playing tends to come towards more modern music, which I have a great love for, but I also enjoy interpretations of earlier cello music on the trombone, and some romantic trombone music. I think the trombone is grossly underrated classically, and hope, as all musicians do, to raise the status of my instrument.

My sexual standing at the moment is that I'm straight. My reasoning for this could be broken down that I'm not strong-willed enough to be gay, I'm not cool enough to be bi, and I'm too shy to be bi-curious. My marital status is very much that I'm taken, given that I very much love my girlfriend Jo, who is amazing.

To say that I love life is wrong. To say that I think the world is a bad place is wrong. I lie somewhere in between. I love individual, small things, but quite often am of the opinion that there is more bad in the world than good. If asked whether the glass was half-full, or half-empty, my answer would probably be to ask which was better - if it's half-empty, you're half-way to getting it over with.
